MR. RICK’S ABC’S FOR YOUTH

Social-emotional learning for elementary, middle school, and high school students. Youth are empowered to change the culture of behavior for themselves, in their school, and in their social environment. Students, teachers, and parents may participate.

The ABC’s address aggression replacement, moral dilemma, social skills, and manners.

A = Attitude (what you think or feel)
B = Behavior (what you say or do)
C = Character (what you show to others; reputation)
‘S = Self-Control (the smallest is the biggest)

Self-control is the most critical component. Students gain the ability to control themselves, their emotions and desires, or their expressions physically or verbally. .To exercise the other components, youth must be able to exercise self-control in their attitude, behavior and character, especially in difficult situations.

Activities

Students can promote Mr. Rick’s ABC’s by creating

  • posters

  • reminder cards

  • sharing/teaching self-control and the ABC’s with others

The big question for all negative or positive behavior will be “where did you go wrong or right?” Was it your attitude, your behavior or you character? Identifying the “where” helps students determine “how” to problem solve.. Video Conferencing available. Fee based.
